On 8 September 2015, the Boeing 777 operating the flight suffered an uncontained engine failure and fire in the left (#1) GE90 engine during take-off from Las Vegas-McCarran International Airport, prompting an aborted take-off and the evacuation of all passengers and crew. All 170 people on board survived, but 20 were injured. Note that British Airways flies more than one version of the 777. There are four classes on this transatlantic aircraft, but BA also has a 3-class configuration. This aircraft type is based from London Heathrow. Seats A,C,D,E,F,H, and K in World Traveller Economy Class have underseat entertainment storage boxes. The 777 Club World cabin seemed to have a yellow tone, similar to our upstairs cabin on the BA 747 on our outbound flight. However, strategically placed light fixtures transformed the look from an old cabin into a classy one, making me wonder if the yellowish look was intentional, rather than being due to age. Dec 26, 2019 The next refurbished 777 is due to re-enter service in January, and from March, BA will add two refurbished 777 to its schedule per month. These are planned to be be largely four-class Boeing 777-200 in the first half of the year, as well as some three-class Boeing 777-200 and four-class Boeing 777-300 largely in the second half of 2020.

The middle cabin is occupied by Business Class - all 14F variants now have the latest Next Generation Club World, with half of the seats facing backwards.
